Battersea Summer Scheme: Annual Report 2022

We are delighted to share with you our annual report on the activities of the Battersea Summer Scheme, a charity that organises trips, outings, and events for under-privileged young people in Battersea and Balham.

The Battersea Summer Scheme was founded in 1992 by a group of local residents who wanted to provide positive and enriching experiences for children and teenagers who might otherwise miss out on them. Since then, we have grown to serve over 500 young people every year, thanks to the generous support of our donors, volunteers, and partners.

In 2022, we managed to deliver a range of exciting and educational activities for our participants with over 3,500 day places, such as:

– A visit to the London Zoo, where they learned about animal conservation and welfare.
– A day trip to Brighton, where they enjoyed the beach, the pier, and the aquarium.
– A “Come dine with me” event, where they created an evening of food, drinks and enterainment.
– A sports day, where they competed in various games and activities.
– An arts workshop, where they showcased their talents and creativity
– A football competition in Battersea Park, where they socialised and had fun.

We are proud of the impact that our scheme has on the lives of our participants. According to our feedback surveys, 95% of them reported that they enjoyed the activities, 90% of them said that they learned something new, and 85% of them said that they made new friends. Moreover, many of them expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to take part in the scheme.

We would like to thank all of our supporters for making this possible. Without your donations, time, and resources, we would not be able to offer these opportunities to our participants. We are also grateful to our partners, such as the London Zoo, Brighton Aquarium, Code Club UK, Sport England, and Battersea Arts Centre, for providing us with venues, facilities, and expertise.

We hope that you will continue to support us in 2023 and beyond. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of young people in Battersea and Balham.
